How to Make Cannamilk
Cannamilk is best when made with full fat homogenized milk. The fat content is higher and absorbs more cannabinoids.
If you don’t have cannamilk on hand, you can easily make some. You can use any milk to make canna milk including dairy, goat, coconut or almond milk. Start by decarboxylating dry cannabis. Break cannabis into small pieces and heat in the oven at 240°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Pour milk into a double boiler or heavy saucepan. Add decarbed cannabis and heat to 180°F. Maintain this temperature for 30 to 45 minutes, stirring often. Strain the mixture and press all of the liquid out of the cannabis by pressing with the back of a spoon.
Warning: If you heat your cannamilk too long, you will end up with evaporated cannamilk. This can still be used as regular canna milk by adding fresh milk to thin it down. Add as much as you need to get the desired volume.
Best Rice For Creamy Cannabis Rice Pudding
The best rice to use is jasmine or basmati rice, but you can use any type of regular rice. It is important to rinse rice before cooking due to the arsenic in rice. Although it has more dietary fiber, brown rice has higher levels of arsenic and should be consumed in moderation.
Raisins In Canna Rice Pudding
Sultanas or golden raisins are plumper and sweeter than regular raisins. Sultanas also absorb more liquid while cooking which makes them more flavorful. You can use regular raisins if you want. Or, you can omit the raisins altogether. Either way, you will still end up with creamy rice pudding in the end.
How To Thicken Rice Pudding
If you don’t want to use an egg in the recipe, you can thicken the second addition of cannamilk by whisking in a half Tbsp of cornstarch. Either method tastes great.
Spice Up Your Creamy Canna Rice Pudding
Although the recipe calls for cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, you can use your favorite spice. Get creative and try ground anise seed, ginger or cardamom, if you dare.
Vegan Friendly Canna Rice Pudding
To make this purely vegan, use coconut or almond cannamilk. Also, use vegan margarine instead of butter.
