Cannabis infused gummies are incredibly delicious and most people love to eat them. However, making your own gummies is not necessarily so easy.
How many times have you tried making gummies and failed? After you pour your gummies into the molds, they look fabulous. Thinking you have made the perfect gummies, you let them cool down. Fast forward to a few hours later and your anticipation turns to shock when you look at your gummies. The dreaded white layer of coconut oil has settled on top and you have a two-toned gummy mess.
When infused gummy-making fails, not only do you waste candy, you waste valuable cannabis. In order to ensure an edibles recipe works for you, do a test run without cannabis. Just use regular coconut oil instead of infused oil for your test run. That way, if your gummies don’t turn out, you haven’t wasted weed.
Ingredients For Gummies
The ingredients in cannabis infused gummies are basic and easily found in most grocery stores. If you like sweeter gummies, add some sugar or honey to the recipe.
- Jello
- LorAnn Flavor
- Soy Lecithin
- Gelatin
- Infused Coconut Oil
- Water
Using Lecithin to Make Gummies
Soya lecithin is one type of lecithin. Lecithin is crucial to infused gummy-making because it holds the oil and water in suspension so your ingredients don’t separate. It is available in many forms including granules, powder and liquid. If your gummies are not successful, try using a different form of lecithin.
Sunflower lecithin is available in powder form and can be used to make infused gummies.
Try mixing lecithin with oil (or tincture) before mixing with other ingredients.

Cannabis Infused Gummies
Ingredients
- 1 pack Flavored Jello 3 ounce
- 1 dram Extra Flavor (if desired)
- 28 g Gelatin
- 2 tsp Soy Lecithin
- 8 tbsp Infused Coconut Oil
- 1 3/4 cup Water, divided
Instructions
- Combine Cannabis Infused Coconut Oil, Soy Lecithin and 3/4 cup of water in a saucepan. Heat on low-medium until all blended.
- Add gelatin to 1 cup of boiling water, whisk thoroughly.
- Add Jello package to gelatin water and whisk thoroughly.
- Add the gelatin/water/jello mix to the pot with the oil/lecithin/water and bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking briskly. Continue whisking boiling mixture for 6 minutes, adjusting heat as needed to prevent over/under boiling.
- Remove from heat and let mixture cool slightly before pouring into molds.
- Allow 2 hours to completely cool at room temperature.
- Remove gummy candies from molds and allow to air dry for 48 to 60 hours. Turn gummy candies over if tops are shrinking faster than the rest of the gummy.

Can we substitute the Jello by adding extra gelatin & sugar or corn starch instead of using a box of jello?
How many ml per gummy is this based on?
what the fuck is the difference between jello and gelatin
Jello is a brand name of gelatin.
Jello is a branded gelatin product that includes sugar/sweeteners and flavoring.
Gelatin, on the other hand is one of the ingredients in Jello. It’s the base. It is unflavored and has no other added ingredients.
Having both in the recipe indicates to me that you need the additional gelatin to overcome how your infused oil may dilute the thickening process. Additional gelatin is what will make your gummies “gummy” rather than a runny mess.
Hello
I was inquiring on storage . What’s the best way to keep the gummies for long term storage ? I wasn’t sure if these should stay in the fridge or on the counter . Thanks.
Regards
Ashley
Did you mean to have them air dried for “48 to 60 HOURS?” Or was that a typo for 48 to 60 minutes? 60 hours seems excessive to me.
Technically you can air dry as long or as short as you want till you get the consistency you want. I usually go at least 48 hours.
Melt store bought bags of gummies add lechitin oil tsp and 4 tblsp infused coconut oil. Put in fridge to harden. Then put in ziploc bag with powdered sugar. You won’t find better I promise
how many bag of gummies per recipe?
Can you give specific amounts please?
Can you coat these in sugar after you make them or does that mess them up? I don’t want them to stick to eachother but they are really stickky
I coat mine with a mixture of cornstarch & sugar it works really well helps dry evenly
How much cornstarch and sugar? Like a 50/50 mix?
I also like to grind up a bit of citric acid with the sugar and it makes a sour powder on the outside
I use olive oil.
Is there another oil that can be used? I would love to make these, but I’m allergic to coconut! Thank you.
You can use olive oil
How can I prevent the separation between the gelatin mixture and infused oil mixture?
That is what the lecithin is for… it’s an emulsifier to bind oil and water. Make sure to mix really well. I recently screwed up a measurement and had a bit too much oil and that’s the only time I’ve ever had separation.
My infused oil did not mix into the gelatin/jello mixture It was separated ?
Whisk, whisk, whisk….that oil away. Must use lethicin. Sunflower not soy. Preferably liquid.
what can be substituted for lecithin??
you can use guar gum, works great!
i swapped the lecithin for xanthum gum for equal amounts. Itwas very thick. Lucky it was a test run. I’ll halve the X gum and try again.
if i have THC drop in coconut oil from the local dispenser, its not solid though, how do I calculate my quantities if 1ml=26.4mg. Also when would you suggest I add them?
My gummies taste too much like decarbed weed. Since gelatin can be reliquified, can i add another pack of jello? I know they’ll be weaker, but my recipie makes them 150mg anyway
Can I use butter instead of coconut oil?
nope
Yes you can use Cannabutter. I use it in every batch I make. I use 1/2 cup Cannabutter. (1 stick of cannabutter if you use standard butter molds.)
Yes
How does the recipe change if I want to use Lorann oil for flavouring instead of Jello? Do I add some extra gelatin and if so, how much?
when do you add the Lorann if so desired, before or after the flavored gelatin? Does it matter
These were easy to make, but I only had 3 molds which mad 75 gummies. Had a lot left over so filled 2 small bowls. Ordered more molds for my next batch.
Where do you buy your molds? For the gummies thanks
Amazon
You can buy molds at the Buok Barn. They have a great selection and prices are good . I’ve also bought at Amazon, both were great sources.
Does the soy Lecithin have to be the liquid or granular?
Good base to build on.
